I love New York in the summer! The streets are buzzing with tourists, there is always great outdoor dining, and Central Park is full of great people watching! I spent a week in New York to shop and research the upcoming hottest summer fashion trends while our merchants met with our manufacturing vendors to view their Spring 2016 lines. Here are the top three summer trends we saw in New York.
1. Tropical Escape – This trend is infused with luscious tropical botanicals, exotic animals like the toucan and flamingo, and a return of the infamous Hawaiian shirt.
2. American Summer – Representing the red, white, and blue is no longer a 4th of July trend. This is an important trend that will last the entire summer. Stars, stripes, and bandanna prints are all the rage for the hot summer months.
3. The ’70s Revival – Boho chic and festival inspired looks continue to dominate the ladies fashion. Key prints for this trend include ikat, tie dye, dip dye, ombre, medallion, paisley, and chevron stripes adorned with lace, crochet, tassels, and fringe. The key color for these trend was Marsala, Pantone’s color of the year.
